As Z said, kids in high school are generally terrified of being seen as different in any way and being seen as gay could be seen as terrifying at that age.

I think it's that my mentality has changed more than society's. In high school, I can remember being freaked out about being thought of as gay because everyone made it out to be a bad thing. Now that I'm past all that crappiness, I see that it's stupid to think like that which is why I find jokes of that nature so unappealing now when I could forgive them or even find them funny in high school.

Sucks but that's teenagers for you.Blinvyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06860799081746665732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9063141388797173496.post-35010904791667443842012-09-26T10:23:58.350-04:002012-09-26T10:23:58.350-04:00Yeah Xander's discomfort at being thought gay ...Yeah Xander's discomfort at being thought gay is quite painful to watch. I'd like to think high school guys now wouldn't do that, but I don't know, looking at many of the guys I went to school with, if someone thought they were gay they probably would have reacted worse than Xander. When one of my friends came out as bi, they ripped the hell out of him for fancying a bloke. So I'm not sure how much times have changed. Just the perspective of someone who went to high school in the noughties, if that was the word for the last decade. [Have you ever lived with one? Or five? Bunnies are evil. - Z]

Word. I had a bunny and while I loved her, she was definitely evil. She didn't like to be cuddled, bit and attacked things that were "in her way". I will never have a bunny again.

On the gay thing, so true. It was so big in the 90s to use that joke and it is kind of uncomfortable to watch now. Same with parents freaking out because they think their kid is gay but "lol, it was just a misunderstanding!" then they are super relieved. It's just...no. I'm glad they don't do it anymore or at least not as often.Blinvyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06860799081746665732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9063141388797173496.post-1140279017509318042012-09-22T09:11:01.086-04:002012-09-22T09:11:01.086-04:00RE: the "hush money" moment:
