Episode 3.19: Weevils
Wobble.
Original Airdate 5.22.07
“Veronica’s sex tape
makes it to the internet. Weevil is arrested for selling fake debit cards to
Hearst students but claims he is being framed because of his criminal
background, so he asks Veronica to clear his name. On Piz’s radio show, Keith
debates Vinnie about the upcoming election, while a tipsy Dick apologizes to
Mac for the way he treated her in the past.”
Daniel's Thoughts:
- Penultimate episode time.
- Veronica is talking about her internship while getting advice from Mac on Piz. Wow. I think Mac has been in like 3 or 4 episodes in a row. Crazy.
- Looks like a new mystery. Some girl gets her food card taken away from her. We’ll find out why later.
- “Looks like she has the right to remain famished.” I love when Veronica makes corny jokes and than laughs cause she knows how corny they are.
- Weevil is here. I mean he better be, since his name is in the title.
- Also here is Patrick Fischler. One of those generally known TV faces.
- He’s currently in Happy! which is an awesome show that you should check out. [Which just got canceled - Present Daniel]
- Veronica does what she can to make Piz feel better. Including a whole skit where she calls him while they’re in the same room to pre-enact (yes, I just made that word up) what it would be like to be in a long distance relationship. And then ends up with sex.
- Meanwhile, the food card thing from earlier comes back to Keith. Turns out someone has been putting fake money on these cards. The two kids who got caught point out Weevil as the man who sold it to them. Because of course.
- Hehe. Weevil uses his one phone call to call Veronica.
- Someone’s following Wallace. I’m sure we’ll find out more later.
- The evidence is stacking up against Weevil. But Veronica will get him out of this!
- And more gay jokes. Now something about short shorts. Sigh. This is exhausting. [Really super very. - Z]
- Veronica: As long as you're in a munificent mood [...]. Piz & Daniel: Munificent?
- Piz’s radio show isn’t going too well in Keith’s favor.
- Oh. Wallace’s stalker? He’s recruiting Wallace for like one of those private college club things like you see in those movies where it gets really super out of control and stuff. This should end well. (If we, indeed, see an end.)
- Hey, it’s Dianna Agron.
- Dick’s been thinking a lot about Cassidy and how Dick is partly to blame for what happened because of how he treated Cassidy growing up.
- And Dick’s become an alcoholic. I wonder what he’ll be like in ten years. Hmmm.
- "Which is why a bunch of kids who can afford to ski in Aspen getting their kicks by ripping off my school and blaming it on the nearest kid from the wrong side of the tracks pisses me off so much." - Veronica. MIC DROP.
- Oh man, Veronica/Piz sex tape. Logan thinks Piz recorded it. He obviously did not. And so he kicks Piz’s ass.
- And Logan comes in to Mars Investigations looking like a sad puppy with a bloody paw.
Zelda’s Thoughts:
- Gosh, Weevil’s in this episode! I know he’s in the title, but he’s barely been in this season.
- Ugh, he’s dealing with workers comp for a knee injury. Workers comp, a notorious nightmare.
- So rather than taking Mac’s advice to be simple and direct with Piz about the fact that she’ll miss him over summer too, she decides to be indirect but cute and flirty, calling him from the same room to simulate what their long distance relationship will be over the summer.
- That is, til she abandons the phone and climbs on top of him.
- This is super sweet. Is this their first time together? I hate how I know it’s going to be ruined.
- No one can say Neptune isn’t true to character, with people blaming and framing Weevil for their crimes. Weevil’s not surprised either. It hurts my heart.
- Weevil, to Keith: “Do I get a phone call? … What’s Veronica’s number?”
- Weevil and Veronica are saying “bursar” so much, I’m waiting for one of them to admit to punching him.
- I’m so proud of V putting her P.I. license to good use, flashing her badge everywhere.
- Man the unspoken racism of these people is just grand.
- New mystery! Why is rando following Wallace and stealing his trash?
- I like that it’s clear V thinks Weevil isn’t guilty, but knows she has to do her due diligence and ask him questions, looking for a way to clear him, looking for an alibi.
- But this frame up is so thorough, one of the card machines was stashed in his locker. I hate this. Weevil never catches a damn break. I just keep thinking about when Lamb arrested him at graduation.
- Wallace, taking V’s advice, leaves a lure for his stalker, so he can look at his–my god, he’s got full files, stalker photos, his schedule, this is creepy.
- Oh man is this the secret society thing that the show barely had time to set up? You know, cuz this is the penultimate episode?
- Oh hey it’s the girl who picked up Weevil after his speech in Veronica’s criminology class. Slash Quinn from Glee.
- Bam, Veronica found a picture of a ski trip that links all our players together, and can probably help us get Weevil off the hook.
- Dick is still (suddenly, but hey) struggling with guilt over Cassidy. I guess Dick Sr being back in town is triggering everything he’s been repressing.
- Piz: “I’m so nervous. This is totally knotting up my inner nerd.” // Mac: “Wait, you have an inner one?”
- Is Wallace’s plane for an assignment or something? I assume?
- I wonder if this last emo-Dick stuff at the end is an attempt to make him remotely palatable and excuse keeping him around as a regular. I don’t care a lot, but it’s clear they love Ryan Hansen behind the scenes, so they probably figure they need to do something.
In this scenario, Dick is the show's writers, and Mac is me. |
- And why is Logan being suddenly belligerent and rude to Piz? He’s with Parker now. Calm the fuck down and don’t be a dick. Especially when he was being much more mature with Dick and his demons earlier this episode.
- Veronica’s been brought into some fancy-ass conference room to meet the ski trip crime ring and I’m having Mr. Robot flashbacks.
- And then Veronica sits down and says “I guess you’re all asking yourselves why I called this meeting.” I do love her.
- “Who you calling?” “Surgeon General.”
- “You can be one of us.” “Is there where you turn me into a vampire?”
- And she pretends to be listening but actually she’s set her phone to record their offer and make sure they incriminate themselves.
- And there it is. The sex tape.
- Fucking hell.
- And Logan, murder in his eyes, flushed and furious, storms into Piz’s radio studio and beats the shit out of him. Well, Piz fights back, but I’m fairly certain he doesn’t know why he’s suddenly in a fight with Logan.
- “Hey, I forget. Who owes who now?” The beauty of Weevil’s friendship with Veronica.
- Except, shit, he did find that third box and he’s holding onto it and noooooooooo Weevil noooooooo.
- Logan shows up at Mars Investigation, covered in blood, saying, “Veronica, there’s something you should know,” and I guess it’s supposed to be a cliffhanger? Like are we supposed to worry he killed Piz? I really don’t know. We know exactly whose blood is on his knuckles, and we know the thing he’s about to tell her.
- I dunno, this whole season has been weird and disjointed and here at the end you can feel the desperation of trying to spin out new threads in the hopes they can convince the network not to cancel them.
- Also I just. I just hate it. How many ways can this show violate Veronica’s sexual life.
